My chosen Media Institutions for the distribution of our Opening Sequence

For the distribution of our Opening sequence, we would need a company to be skilled and experienced with Action Comedy films, as a company who isn't familiar with this type of genre wouldn't be a helpful at distributing the Opening Sequence, for example they might choose to distribute the film at a time that wouldn't be appropriate for a film of this genre. We also would like a company that is well established, meaning that it is a well known and trusted company for distribution as a whole. This is because a well-known company is going to be able to promote the film to a much larger audience than a company that hasn't achieved global success. On this basis, my group has come to the decision that the best companies for the distribution of our film would be Warner Bros and New Line Cinema.

We feel that this is the best decision, as firstly both of these companies have had good experience with the distribution of films such as the entire Rush Hour series and also the Central Intelligence film. We also felt that these two companies were suitable because of the well-established history of these tow companies; They are a group of companies that are trustworthy. The fact that they are both run by the same people suggests proof of their reliability and the fact that their approach to film distribution is able to make two companies succeed.

The audience for the created Opening Sequence

Chosen audience:
I felt that the target audience for this film would be British or American people of any ethnic background. This because people within these countries are going to find this film exciting, whilst also appealing towards the more comical side of the storyline. We also felt that it would more likely appeal to Males over females, as males seem to appeal more to films orientated over the Action genre. People aged 15-30 are our age range for this film, as it is people within this age range that tend to find comical action movies the best films for them to watch. The idea of the viewer's income was somewhat regardless of this concept, as income doesn’t necessarily affect whether someone would enjoy watching a film. In a more specific analysis of the target audience though, I feel that we would be aiming towards teenagers who have an energetic and upbeat lifestyle, people who like to spend time out with their friends and would probably use social media such as Instagram and Twitter as part of a subconscious daily routine. They would (to conclude), be teenagers who spend a lot of time around friends and like to have a laugh every now and then.

Our personal group brief for the created title sequence

Brief:
As a group, our personal Brief was to create an opening title sequence that presented the attributes of an Action-Comedy genre film. The story itself was based on a man named Ace Kurtis, an ex-mercenary who is part of the police force. He has lost his family to a group of kidnappers, which eventually makes Ace turn to his former ex-mercenary times in an attempt to find his family.

The title itself was quite a smart idea to come up with, as we felt that the protagonist's first name "ace" relates to the "ace" playing card, thus we felt that the cards connotation was smart as it relates to Kurtis having to *play the right cards* in order to get his family back. In the opening sequence, Ace wakes up and proceeds to his normal routine of getting ready for the day ahead. We felt that the sub-genre of Comedy came through by Ace's way of seeming funny whilst getting ready, as it shows the funnier side to characters in Action films.

Journal Post - Changing Of Groups

Changing Of Groups

During the course of my group's production process, one of the group members had to leave the group as he was moving from London to Wales. This, alongside the unresponsiveness from my other group member, meant that I had to switch groups and move to the group that was more focused on the work that needed to be completed.

The group that I have recently joined is focusing on a film with the Action Comedy genre. It is based on an ex-mercenary trying to find his family who has been kidnapped.

My Group's Recce

My Group's Recce

These are the sort of areas that me and my group felt would firstly suit the kinds of shots that are displayed in our storyboard, and secondly be able to portray the type of connotations that we would want an audience to be able to derive, for example the type of genre film it would be.

(The bus in particular is an important part of the storyboard so taking a picture was necessary).
